The Muslim Association of Milton (MAM) has been dedicatedly serving the Muslim Community of Milton for more than a decade. The Halton Islamic Community Centre (HICC) Masjid and Halton Learning Centre (HLC) extend their services to the Muslim communities in Milton, Oakville, and Burlington.
Position Summary
We are seeking a passionate and qualified Grade 5 Teacher to join our dedicated teaching staff. The ideal candidate will deliver an engaging curriculum aligned with both Ontario standards and Islamic principles, fostering academic success and character development.
Responsibilities:
- Develop lesson plans and instructional materials aligned with Ontario curriculum standards. Teach various subjects such as math, science, language arts, social studies.
- Integrate Islamic values and character education into daily lessons and classroom management.
- Uphold and model Islamic manners, dress code, and behavior consistent with the school’s mission.
- Maintain a safe, orderly, and conducive learning environment. Manage student behavior and promote positive interactions among students.
- Assess students’ progress through various methods such as tests, quizzes, projects, and observations. Prepare students report cards and provide constructive feedback to students and parents on academic performance and areas for improvement.
- Recognize and accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities within the classroom. Provide additional support or enrichment activities as needed for students with special needs or exceptional abilities.
- Communicate regularly with parents or guardians regarding students’ academic progress, behavior, and any concerns. Attend parent-teacher meetings and collaborate with parents to support students’ learning at home.
- Work collaboratively with other teachers, administrators, and principal to coordinate curriculum, share best practices, and address the needs of the students.
- Engage in ongoing professional development activities to enhance teaching skills, stay updated on educational trends and research, and meet continuing education requirements.
- Create a stimulating and engaging learning environment by decorating classrooms, organizing educational displays, and incorporating technology and multimedia resources.
- Provide emotional support and guidance to students as needed. Identify and address social, emotional, or behavioral issues that may impact students’ academic success.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Ontario Teachers’ College certification is an asset.
- Minimum 2 years academic teaching experience
- Knowledge of Islamic principles and the ability to incorporate them into the classroom setting
- Interpersonal skills with an emphasis on compassion, patience, and professionalism
- Fluency in both spoken and written English
- Fluency in French is an asset.
- Strong team ethic and a willingness to take on extra-curricular projects.
